Today I got a wooden recorder from a charity shop. I’ve never played a wooden recorder before and I expected it to sound different to a plastic one but it sounds the same to me.
The language in the instructions is quite old fashioned: “A wise player keeps his recorder in a case or carton. He blows a new recorder only a short time in the first days. If protects it against stove- and sun-heat and against a rapid change of temperature”.
I also got a couple of records: an lp of French harp music that sounds like the soundtrack to every 1930s black and white film and an lp of early medieval music that unfortunately jumps too much to be listenable.
